Community Wellbeing Development Training

We offer an exciting praxis for community development professionals that integrates Community Development approaches with Positive Psychology to provide an evidence-based framework for the facilitation of well-being within communities.

Our training programme instils a positive philosophy for delivering community development that involves learning to see the community not in terms of an underlying pathology of what is dysfunctional, but in terms of what is inherently functional and is based on the four primary assumptions:

  1. The community is not broken

  2. The community understands its strengths and weakness

  3. The community can solve its own problems

  4. External service provision is necessary but not sufficient for meaningful change

Our training promotes strengths based capacity building and PERMA:

  • Positive emotions and optimism through collective action

  • Engagement through community participation, volunteering and micro-economic development

  • Positive Relationships within the community and with external agencies

  • Meaning in terms of belonging and group identity

  • individual and collective Accomplishment in terms of meaningful progress toward individual and collective change

This eight part intensive training course lasts for one full day 9.30am to 4.30pm with an hour for lunch and includes:

  • Defining Community Development

  • Community Development past to present

  • Different approaches to community work

  • Social policy, wellbeing and community development
