Headwork Occupational Readiness Programme
The Ignite team have conducted extensive research regarding those young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) and the long-term unemployed. The research clearly shows that NEET young-people and those who have been out of work for some time often lack the psychological capacity and soft-skills necessary for success in the world of work. In order to tackle this issue Ignite has devised an appropriate scheme of training to build psychological capacity and the ‘soft-skills’ needed. These include self-esteem and self-efficacy, motivation, social and interpersonal skills, and self-presentation, CV and application writing and interview techniques. These skills should merge with concurrent numeracy and literacy skills to provide a person well prepared to seek work, training or further education with an increased chance of completion and overall success to enter or re-enter the workplace. The Headwork Occupational Readiness Programme has been developed by a qualified Occupational Psychologist and was highly commended by Welsh Government officials for its innovative approach.
The unique aspects of our course that set it apart from others are:
-
Targets the underlying psychological barriers that prevent engagement and continuation
-
The blending of cognitive approaches to specifically help with the control of stress, anxiety and self-limiting beliefs
-
Psychometrics to measure individual problem areas and to gauge intervention outcomes
-
A post intervention toolkit of techniques to sustain behavioural outcomes
